What’s new for the 17th Annual Unity Awards?

As our community evolves, so do the Unity Awards. This year, we’re introducing new categories and updating how some awards are recognized to better reflect our community and the diversity of projects built with Unity. Social Impact: With such a wide range of meaningful and mission-driven submissions, we're expanding this category to honor eight outstanding projects that use Unity to drive positive change around the world. Innovation Award (Industry): Unity powers solutions across industries, from architecture and automotive to healthcare, and beyond. To reflect this breadth, we’ll present eight Innovation Awards to groundbreaking industry projects, rather than selecting winners from individual sector categories. Breakthrough Asset Award (Asset Store): This award celebrates a first-time Asset Store publisher whose work has made a strong impact on the Unity community. Chosen by our internal team from eligible submissions, it recognizes new talent whose creativity and quality quickly stood out. Unity’s Choice Award (Community): The Unity’s Choice Award honors a creator—whether an established voice or a rising talent—who made a standout impact over the past year. Chosen internally, it celebrates streamers, educators, or insiders who’ve shared insight, content, or community support that truly impressed us. How are the nominations counted?

Accepted Answer

All nominations are reviewed to ensure they meet the eligibility criteria of the selected award categories. Eligibility criteria is available on the Unity Awards page, and on the submission site wherever you see the ‘?’ icon. Eligible submissions will be evaluated by our internal awards committee, composed of subject-matter experts who will select up to eight nominees per category. Final nominees are announced on Unity’s official channels, with the exception of Industry and Social Impact which do not have a nomination stage. To determine the winners there will be a public vote for the Games, Asset Store, and Community categories, while the Industry and Social Impact winners will be determined internally. All winners will be revealed in our Unity Awards Showcase later this year.

Are other countries hosting Unity Awards this year?

The Unity Awards are a global event, with games from all territories eligible to submit their projects.

How do I know if my game/project is eligible?

Accepted Answer

Eligibility for categories vary. Games: Eligible games must have been commercially released between July 1, 2024 to September 23, 2025. “Most Anticipated” games are eligible if a title has been announced, and is in development between these dates. Asset Store: First released on the Asset Store between July 1, 2024 to June 30, 2025. Publisher of the Year does not have any date restrictions. Community Content: Must have released Unity-related content between July 1, 2024 to September 23, 2025. Education: Eligible games must have been actively being developed in 2024 or 2025 by a team who either graduated in or are students in the 2024-2025 academic year. Social Impact: Eligible projects must have been released between July 1, 2024 to September 23, 2025. Industry: Eligible projects that have released or been developed between July 1, 2024 and September 23, 2025 and can be shared publicly.

What are the prizes for the Unity Award Winners?

The Unity Award nominees and winners in each category will receive digital badges to share on their storefronts and socials. They may also be eligible for potential global marketing opportunities in Unity channels including sizzle reels, blog posts, and speaking opportunities at Unity events. For clarity, these marketing opportunities are not a guaranteed component of the award. Selection for any such opportunity is determined by Unity in its sole discretion based on its marketing needs and is not guaranteed for any winner or nominee.
